Cats of Durban has a few rules:

We NEVER remove cats.  We trap, sterilize and return.  We encourage people to look after their cats so that they are healthy and do not breed.  We will only consider removing cats under the following circumstances:

     *  Cats are too sick or compromised to survive without human care;

     *  The environment is so hostile to the cats that they will live in constant danger of being killed by traffic or machinery.

We do not rescue or home kittens and cats.  We are focussing solely on creating an environment where all cats are wanted and cared-for.  The only way to do this is through sterilization, which is our core duty.  We do work with organisations that rescue and home.  You can find their contact details on our Information (contacts) page.

All our donations are used for sterilizations.  No donated money is used for admin or running costs.  Volunteers pay  their own way.  Our books are open to anyone for inspection.

In order to raise money to help with food, transport, or administration, we undertake sales of our branded goods, and we do work on the side to raise funds.  Our administrative costs, therefore, are paid out of commercial undertakings.

When we receive a contract to manage cats, we will make sure that all our remunerated costs are ring-fenced and attached to that client.  The client will be fully invoiced for any costs incurred and there should be no discrepancies.
